Our Hotel History

From its 15th century origins, where the watch tower served as the town’s look-out, it’s had many uses over the years – most recently a butcher’s shop.

The name mostatxins, meaning moustache in local dialect, comes from the butcher himself who had particularly renowned facial hair!

Mark Worthington

Mark Worthington was Hotel Can Mostatxins founder and visionary.

His team of ‘Mostatxiners’ are a testament to this dream. Tragically, Mark passed away unexpectedly in April 2019. Every member of the team strives to be the best, for themselves, for the business, and in his memory. Mark was a great leader, great fun and a wonderful family man who is truly missed everyday.

After six years of meticulous renovation, with artisans recovering and restoring centuries of architectural detail and the later addition of Frare, a 18th century Modernist property next door, with its Juliet balconies and stained glass windows, it’s now a little oasis of calm and tranquility.
